We had a great annual meeting last night! Thank you to everyone who attended. Warr Acres City Councilor Judy Myers and OKC City Councilor Bradley Carter joined us to answer questions and share updates from their cities. Here are a few highlights:
Warr Acres Updates
  • Big trash pickup: Increased to four times per year. Extra trash cans are also available upon request.
  • City Council meetings: The sound system is being upgraded to reduce technical difficulties for those watching online.
  • Short-term rentals: The city remains divided on how to address Airbnb and Vrbo properties, with some favoring a ban and others supporting permits and regulation. Judy suggested forming a citizen committee to study the issue, potentially using OKC's permitting code as a model. As always, contact Warr Acres police if short-term rental guests cause noise disturbances.
  • Sidewalks: A sidewalk is planned along MacArthur to NW Expressway and around the corner to the pedestrian bridge.
Oklahoma City Updates
  • Bike paths: A bike path along Wilshire is also planned to connect with the bridge, helping complete the trail between Lake Overholser and Lake Hefner.
  • Alora Apartments (formerly Isola Bella): The new owner is cooperating with the city to address the condemned buildings. They are repairing and renovating the property building by building, moving current residents into renovated units and will eventually demolish buildings beyond repair. The owner appears better financed than the previous one and says he has a 30-year plan.
  • Oklahoma City growth: With the city's population growing rapidly, our area is on the council's radar for future neighborhood initiatives.
  • Wiley Post Airport: New fencing is being installed, two new runways are planned, and construction of a new tower is expected to begin soon. There are also plans to reopen the Runway Cafe.
East Lake Dam & Spillway
The Oklahoma Water Resources Board has approved the completed East Lake dam and spillway, with official documentation to follow. The next step is finalizing an easement agreement allowing Warr Acres to access and maintain the spillway to protect the sewer line beneath it.
Your HOA board is committed to ensuring the agreement protects the Association's interests, preserves the dam and surrounding greenbelt, and clearly establishes how future repairs will be addressed.
Thanks again to everyone who attended and helped make this such a productive meeting!
