Yuck. What are we doing about the algae and invasive plants in our ponds?
What are we doing about algae and invasive weeds?
From Katy:
Jarryd from Robison Wildlife Solutions treats the algae/invasive weeds on the lakes.
05.15.24: He's planning to come out on a regular basis, to treat our lakes (and also Twin Lakes).
He will be making monthly visits now through October to stay on top of it. He will also be applying the probiotic treatments to help eat up some of the organic matter that feeds the algae and invasive plants.
He will drive his truck down from Shoreline next to the creek and around behind the houses toward the East lake to launch his boat.
On a side note, I was also pleased to hear him say our West Lake is a rather remarkable spot for wildlife biodiversity. He particularly noted the birds that roost there at night, including grey herons, little herons, green herons and egrets. I'm sure a lot of us have seen them, but I didn't realize that kind of rookery isn't found on just any pond. We certainly have a treasure in that lake and greenbelt area.
